It's Going To Be A Jam-Packed Tuesday

I've mentioned this before, but Tuesday in the Lou is a great night. First, Jenny Owen Youngs will be here opening for Mae at Off Broadway. I've posted about her previously here and here.

And, also on Tuesday, White Rabbits return to the Firebird. Old Skool musicological scientists may need to take a nap Tuesday afternoon. We suggest you do the same. And I'll see you out and about. Here's the band on Letterman, after their first album came out. It's good. They've gotten better.

Jenny Owen Youngs Update: Good News/Bad News- She's Coming To STL

So after I posted last about Jenny, I checked to see if she is touring, and GREAT NEWS, SHE IS! Specific to my little corner of the world, she's coming to Off Broadway on Tuesday, October 27, opening for the band mae.

But BAD NEWS, she's coming the same night that White Rabbits are playing at the Firebird. Oh cruel gods of fate, why do you taunt me? Ah, perhaps I can pull a Beatle Bob and hit Off Broadway first, catch Jenny, and then hightail it to the Firebird to see those White Rabbit boys. Yessss, it just might work.

Tidbit-topia

• Rancid will be performing on Conan on Wednesday night. They will be performing for me on Saturday at Pop's.

• White Rabbits and Jon Hardy will be at the Bluebird this Wed.

• Alejandro Escovedo will be at the Pageant along with Amy Lavere and Hot Club of Cowtown, to kick off Twangfest, also this Wednesday.

• Aerosmith will also be performing this Wednesday at the UMB Verizon Bank Riverport. And before you snicker about that one, they'll be performing "Toys In The Attic" in it's entirety, which would be cool to see.

• Did you like Blind Pilot when they opened for the Decemberists? Well, they're coming back, this time to Off Broadway on August 11. I think the venue will be perfect for them. The Pageant was almost too big for their delicate sound. Good booking choice.

• The RFT Music Fest was fun. Gentleman Auction House put on a good show as always, the 75's were pop-punk fun, even playing the Buzzcock's "Orgasm Addict", but the drummer looked like the girls' dad so there was a weird visual disconnect.
The show at the Pageant, from the times I ducked in there, sucked ass.
Not to be confused with the show at the Halo Bar, where the Humanoids put on an energetic set, and the Tripdaddies never fail to satisfy.
Anybody know the story on the Alex Keaton dude that was rocking out in front during the Trips? Seen him at a couple of shows, and he gets into it.
Rats and People were uniquely beautiful, I am better for seeing them.

White Rabbits: Percussion Gun

Just bought the new White Rabbits, and I'm liking what I'm hearing. I'm told that one of the two (!) drummers is originally from St Louis. The disc is produced by Britt Daniel, and has a passing resemblance to his music. If he had two drummers.

They're coming to St Louis, at the Firebird, on Wednesday, June 10, with Jon Hardy opening up. I think you should go and ask to audition for the third drummer spot. And don't leave without an audition.
