Faith No More disbanded in 1998. I guess they get lumped in with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and all of the rap-rock forebearers, but if you really listen to them they had an artistic skew that was all their own. Mike Patton has gone on to follow that artistic muse, really doing (from what I can tell) whatever the heck he wants, and really getting as far away from commercial music as possible.
The thought of a reunion is tasty indeed, as the band was a good live act. I still remember seeing them open up for Robert Plant at the Fox, Patton walking around like the Frankenstein monster, rumbling all over the stage, with all the boomers who were there to get their Zeppelin fix watched in shock/silent indifference. I thought they were great, but don't think most people knew what hit them. Of course, they also played Mississippi Nights, and even Furst Rock on the landing, before anybody heard of them. Ah, memories.
So supposedly the band will be playing some European dates this summer. In the meantime, Patton will be performing at Coachella on April 17.
Oh, and for my money, their best release by far was "Angel Dust", check it out if you get a chance.

One More For Tonight- Robert Plant And Alison Krauss At The Fox
Here's Robert Plant and Alison Krauss doing "Please Read The Letter".
The song I am looking forward to the most is "Fortune Teller". Here's a fan-made video that uses some images of Alison, Robert, and a slew of fortune tellers:

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss- Tomorrow At The Fox!

Well, this one was a long time coming. This was supposed to happen in June, and got postponed. I bought the tickets on MARCH 3! Six long months later, I'll finally get to check out what should be a sweet concert.
I went looking for Sharon Little, to see what she is going to be like, since she is the opening act. Here's Sharon performing live:
And a little about her from her official bio:
At the start of 2008, Sharon Little was working as a waitress. Less than five months later, she is appearing in concert halls throughout the country as the opening act on the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss and T Bone Burnett “Raising Sand” tour. She’s winning ovations as Perfect Time For A Breakdown, her brilliant album of heartfelt personal songs, is released nationally. While this might seem that she’s an “overnight sensation,” Sharon is anything but a flash in the pan. She’s a singer of intense emotional honesty and the songs she’s written reveal an old soul that just happens to be within a person possessed of undeniable physical and spiritual beauty. The journey that has taken her so far in seemingly so short a time has actually been a life-long quest to find her voice, both in the literal and figurative sense.
We will see how she does. I can't wait for tomorrow night, cause I KNOW the main event is going to be good.

Steely Dan St. Louis Concert Review

The show I saw last night was like VH1: dependable, and a little bit too mellow. Part of what makes a concert experience is the audience's reaction to the music, and last night's audience felt like they were there to say they were there, vs. being there to really enjoy themselves.
Musically the band was adept at all the songs performed, and tackled them with vigor, even if at times the music leaned more on the "jazz" side when I was hoping for more "rock". This is of course a personal preference, and I knew what I was getting into with the Dan, since they are/were deeply influenced by jazz. The show started with each musician warming up by taking a solo or two each, and then Walter Becker and Donald Fagen came out to kick it up a notch. Mostly old songs were performed, along with a Fagen song from "The Nightfly". The middle really sagged, again, more for lack of audience enthusiasm. I felt like we were sitting in someone's living room, since the guy behind me had a comment or two about every song, and I could hear every word. Because this was one of the quieter concerts I've been to.
The encore was "Kid Charlemagne", and then Walter and Donald were gone, with the band playing some smooth jazz. Surely this wasn't the end? But, alas, the show ended not with a bang, but a whimper. Smooth jazz finished the evening off, as the houselights slowly came up.
Back to your Lexus's and BMW's. Back into the early night. Tell your co-workers you were there, show them the photo on your cell phone. Go to sleep watching CNN.
